Gene Sharp comes to HCAMS after a more than thirty-two year career as a UniServ representative with the New Jersey Education Association, where he represented the interests of teachers and other school employees. During his time with NJEA, Gene organized and advised local associations; negotiated collective bargaining contracts; and represented members in grievance, arbitration and labor commission proceedings. He trained members and other staff in organizing and advocacy techniques. In his representation of members in disciplinary situations caused by stress disorders or substance abuse Gene worked with Terry Livorsi in getting appropriate treatment for members and helping them to successfully return to the job.
Prior to working with NJEA, Gene taught elementary and high school grades for several years. A graduate of LaSalle University with a master’s degree from Temple University, Gene lives in Hammonton, NJ with his wife Dolores and three children.
